Sclerotherapy and Laser Treatment of Veins

For spider and small varicose veins. A solution is injected into the vein causing it to constrict and shrink away from the vascular wall. In time, the vein disintegrates and in the vast majority of patients, the appearance of the vein is greatly reduced or eliminated. The number of treatments depends on the severity of the problem and the individual patient. Some discomfort can be expected during the procedure usually described as a slight, stinging sensation. Patients are asked to wear support stockings for a short time following the procedure.

Sclerotherapy is considered to be a relatively safe procedure versus more invasive measures. It remains more effective than laser treatments for most spider veins on the legs. Laser is the best treatment for all facial blood vessel growths and some leg veins. A consultation is necessary to determine the best treatment.
