How do I set up/change/cancel an appointment?
In order to give our patients the individualized attention they deserve, appointments are required.
Call (573) 234-1000 to schedule an appointment. Please notify us as soon as possible if you are unable to keep an appointment so that we can offer the time to other patients. If you would like to check for an earlier appointment, you may check for cancellations by calling our office. If you are registered with our secure messaging system, you may inquire about appointments via email. However, it is recommended that patients call the office to schedule all appointments. How can I pre-register for my appointment?
Patients who are new to our practice or have not yet registered in our electronic medical records system may pre-register for their appointments by visiting our secure messaging center. An email address is required to complete registration. Once a patient is registered they may fill out patient forms located in the "Patient Forms" section of the messaging center. Patients may click

How do I get to the office?
The office is southwest of the Columbia Mall. From the Mall,
proceed south to Broadway. Turn right and go 2.7 miles to
Chapel Hill Road. Turn left (east) and take the first right (south)
to our street, Corona Road. Parking is located to the front, side, and rear of the building. Call the office or click for a map and directions.
Do I have to pay for my visit at the time of my appointment?
Payment is expected at the time of service unless we are contracted to file with your insurance first. All copayments must be paid at the time of service.
Do you accept my insurance?
Each insurance plan is different.
We accept many popular insurance plans such as: Blue Cross and Blue Shield, United Healthcare, GHP, Healthlink, and Medicare. To know if are a provider for your insurance plan, please contact your insurance company for a complete listing of preferred providers in your area.
How much is my co-pay?
This varies with the insurance plan. Contact your insurance company for more details.

How can I get a prescription refilled?
If your pharmacy does not have a refill on file, you may need to be seen for an appointment before a refill can be made. In order for us to refill your medication, you must have been seen withing the past year. Call our office during regular hours and leave us your pharmacy phone number in case we need to speak with your pharmacist.
How can I find out results to my tests?
We try to call you with all test results or if necessary we will send a note in the mail.
How do I get copies of my medical records?
Our office employes the latest technology to efficiently update, maintain, and protect your medical records. Each patient's privacy is of the utmost importance to us. Our documentation system safeguards your privacy and ensures your records are kept strictly confidential. Your medical records may be released or transferred only after we receive written authorization from you. However, if another doctor has referred you, it is standard practice to correspond with that physician about the outcome of your visits.
What is an EMR?
In April of 2004 DeSpain Dermatology Center converted to electronic charting. Our Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system stores your medical information on a secure server that provides us with an efficient way to locate, update, and process your medical information. In April of 2005, President Bush set a goal of universal electronic medical records by the year 2015. Utilizing EMR is one more way that DeSpain Dermatology Center is using the latest technology in healthcare to serve you better.

In the event of medical emergency, please dial 911 or visit the nearest emergency room.
What is a medical spa?
A medical spa is a facility whose medical program is run under the strict supervision of a licensed healthcare professional, according to the International Medical Spa Association. Our staff includes medical assistants, estheticians, and nurses who have received advanced certification and clinical training in dermatology. In addition, our Cosmetic Service Coordinator is highly trained and dedicated to assist with any concerns or questions.

When is payment due for cosmetic services?
Payment is due at the time of service for all cosmetic services. For your convenience, we accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express.
How do I order Skin Care Products?
All of the products that are available for purchase in our office are also available for purchase via email or telephone at 573.446.5166. Visit the SkIntuition part of our website and choose "Skin Care Products" for more information on what products we offer . Orders are shipped once they are processed. Orders are usually processed within 3 business days. Shipping charges and time for delivery are dependent upon the location of the delivery and items ordered.
